Turns out half of men can't find the vagina. No, we're not kidding.
In a survey conducted by The Eve Appeal, a British charity for gynecological cancers, 1,000 men were asked to label the vagina on a diagram including the vagina, vulva, cervix, ovaries and the Fallopian tubes. Only 500 were able to correctly label the location of the vagina.
In case you are one of those men who missed sex-ed class (or a woman who isn't clear on her own body parts), the vagina is the muscular tube part of the female genitalia.
Many of the men surveyed confused it with the vulva – the external part of the genitalia.
The findings of the survey were recently published to help raise awareness for gynecological cancers. According to the survey, one in six men "know nothing about gynecological health issues and don't feel that (they) need to know, as it is a female issue."
The charity hopes the findings will change that because "we know from the many calls that we receive at The Eve Appeal from men, that they can play a vital role in identifying the symptoms of gynecological cancer, prompting their partners to visit the GP. Early diagnosis really is key and can save lives.
"This is not about having better sex. It’s about men helping women to look after their health. Gyne awareness and taboo busting are all of our responsibility, men and women alike."
